Cookie and local storage policy

This page explains what the glidetracker.world website stores on your device. It covers cookies and other trackers, such as browser local storage (localStorage), which follow the same rules.

In short

• We use no advertising cookies, no audience-measurement tools and no third-party trackers set by us.
• We only store on your device information that is necessary for the service you request (sign-in, map display preferences).
• These trackers are exempt from consent, which is why the site shows no cookie banner. If we ever add a tracker that requires consent (non-exempt analytics, advertising, embedded content), we will ask for your agreement before setting it.

What is stored on your device

• Sign-in session (a key like “sb-…-auth-token”, only if you sign in on the My account page): keeps you signed in. Necessary for authentication. Removed when you sign out.
• glide-view: last map position and zoom, to reopen the map where you left it.
• glide-mapmode, glide-sidebar, glide-airspaces, glide-airspace-filter, glide-frequencies, glide-freq-categories, glide-radar: your display choices (base map, side panel, airspaces and their filters, radio frequencies, weather radar).
• glide-favorites: the aircraft you added to favourites.

This data stays on your device; it is not sent to third parties and is not used to follow you across sites. It has no automatic expiry date: you can delete it at any time in your browser settings (clear site data).

Why no consent is requested

According to the French data protection authority (CNIL), trackers strictly necessary for a service requested by the user are exempt from consent, in particular those used for authentication, as well as those that remember display preferences when such customisation is an intrinsic and expected part of the service. Informing the user remains mandatory: that is the purpose of this page.

Requests to third-party services (not cookies)

To display the map, your browser downloads base maps and weather layers directly from CARTO, Esri, OpenTopoMap and RainViewer. Like any web server, these providers receive your IP address and technical browser information. We send them nothing else. This is detailed in the privacy policy. The site fonts are hosted on our own server.

Mobile apps

As of the update date, the glide. apps include no advertising, no advertising identifier and no third-party analytics tool. Device permissions (location, camera, microphone, Bluetooth, notifications) are only used for the matching features and can be withdrawn at any time in your phone settings.
